True luxury goes beyond aesthetics—it’s about creating sustainable, energy-efficient communities. Our commitment is to today’s homeowners, the planet, and future generations.
At Imperial Homes, we believe true luxury goes beyond aesthetics — it’s about building sustainable, energy-efficient, and environmentally responsible homes and communities. As one of Ghana’s leading real estate developers, we embrace our role in shaping the future of urban living and are committed to doing so responsibly.
Sustainability is central to everything we do — from designing and constructing developments to managing our offices and supporting homeowners. By embedding sustainable practices across every aspect of our business, we create lasting value for our clients while safeguarding the environment for future generations.
Our Commitment to EDGE Certification
EDGE certification is at the heart of how we approach sustainable development — a globally recognised green building standard developed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. Where EDGE certification is pursued, a development must demonstrate measurable savings across three categories relative to a conventional baseline. It is our ambition to embed this standard progressively across our portfolio as our green programme matures.
≥20%
Energy
Reduction in operational energy consumption through efficient systems and climate-responsive design.
≥20%
Water
Reduction in water use through smart plumbing, low-flow fixtures, and resource-efficient landscaping.
≥20%
Materials
Reduction in the embodied energy of materials through responsible specification and eco-conscious construction.
Verified — not just promised
01
Design-Stage Audit
An independent EDGE auditor verifies that the design meets all three thresholds before construction begins.
02
Post-Construction Audit
After completion, the auditor physically inspects the site to confirm that specified materials and systems were correctly installed.
On EDGE-certified developments, each residential unit is individually certificated — providing homeowners with a globally recognised, independently verified record of their home's energy, water, and material performance.
With EDGE certification, our homeowners enjoy lower utility costs, long-term value, and the assurance of sustainable living — backed by independent verification.
Sustainability Beyond Construction
Sustainability at Imperial Homes doesn't stop at our building sites — it's part of our corporate culture. We believe that responsible living starts from within, which is why we've adopted eco-conscious practices across our offices and operations.
We have implemented LED lighting, energy-efficient systems, and solar photovoltaic power across our offices to reduce our operational footprint — and to demonstrate by example the very principles we build into every home.
Through our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and digitised workflows — electronic approvals, cloud-based document management, and tablet-based site reporting — we are targeting a 30% reduction in paper consumption in Year 1, with continuous improvement thereafter.
A comprehensive waste-segregation system operates throughout our offices — with organic waste, recyclables, and paper all managed and disposed of responsibly. Single-use plastics are not used in our offices. On our construction sites, a structured six-step waste protocol targets diverting at least 60% of site waste from landfill on every project.
Sustainability is a shared responsibility. Every team and department nominates a Sustainability Champion responsible for driving green practices at an operational level. We run company-wide training and awareness programmes to ensure that environmental consciousness is embedded in our culture — not treated as a compliance exercise.
Our sustainability commitments are governed by a company-wide Sustainable Procurement Policy that mandates responsible sourcing, supplier accountability, and the prioritisation of EDGE-compliant materials. Progress is reviewed quarterly and reported against measurable targets — because a commitment without measurement is simply an intention.
By practising what we preach, we ensure that sustainability is not just built into our homes, but into our entire way of working.
We are committed to building beyond today — crafting timeless homes and sustainable communities that protect the planet for generations to come.
